FAQ
CHAT
Q: Does John go in the chatroom? How often?
A: Yes, he has been sighted in the chatroom a couple of times. How often? He comes and he goes like any other member of Local-83, but there's no mathematical equation in figuring out when he'll be in.
From time to time, John will hold a scheduled chat. Specific details for the chat will be announced a week or two in advance.
Q: Are there any rules to using the chat room?
A: Only one. Members are encouraged to freely discuss anything they like, but the posting of threatening or gratuitous content for the purposes of intimidation or presenting inappropriate content to children is strictly prohibited and could result in the loss of a person’s membership. Otherwise, enjoy!
Q: How do we know that it is really John in the chat room for the live chat?
A: It’s him.
CONTACTING THE ARTIST
Q: Can I contact John?
A: Local-83 provides several forums (chats, “Dear John” and others) as means to provide access to John Mayer. That is generally the best way to go about it. We encourage members to email brief questions and comments to John Mayer at Dearjohn@local83.com Selected entries will be answered by John Mayer on a regular basis.
MESSAGE BOARDS
Q: Are there any rules to using the message board?
A: Only one. Members are encouraged to freely discuss anything they like, but the posting of threatening or gratuitous content for the purposes of intimidation or presenting inappropriate content to children is strictly prohibited and could result in the loss of a person’s membership. Otherwise, enjoy!
Q: How do I post pictures to the message board?
A: You need to use a little HTML. In the body of the message, just enter the following:
<IMG src=" ">
Keep everything (including the < and the > on one line. In between the " " you should paste the URL of your picture. It must be available on the web.
So, if your picture was at http://www.idontknowhtml.com/help.jpg, you would enter:
<IMG src="http://www.idontknowhtml.com/help.jpg">
You can't post pictures from your hard drive. They have to be on the Internet somewhere to post them, because you have to have a URL to access it. You need to post your picture on picturetrail or some thing like it (if it's only one you want, see yahoo tip above) THEN post it here.
Current Local-83 members have requested the following advice on message board etiquette be posted:
1. Use “Search” for an Existing Thread: There may be existing message threads that address I topic you wish to discuss. The “Search” button is located at the top of the message boards. It's a great feature. You can search by subject, member name and stuff like that.
2. Members have asked that people refer to this document as well as “Membership Policies” before posting questions regarding tickets, chats and other services provided by Local-83.
3. Before posting something asking for information, please make sure you have checked other threads to make sure the question hasn't been posted already.
Ticketing
Q: What are my chances of getting seats through John Mayer Fanclub Ticketing?
A: While we can't absolutely guarantee that you will get tickets for all of your requests, in most cases all requests made with a valid credit card will be filled. Seats for high demand shows such as Madison Square Garden may be more competitive.
Q: How do I know if my order went through?
A: You can check your ticket status directly within the fan club web site (dates and times will be posted). Log onto the web site and visit the John Mayer Ticketing section where you can access your ticket request information by clicking on "check ticket status".
Q: Will I get better seats through John Mayer Fanclub Ticketing than through other ticket outlets?
A: We have reserved what we consider good seats for John Mayer Fanclub members. While not everyone will be placed in the first few rows from the stage, we have made every attempt to reserve seats with a decent view. Due to day of show floor and equipment changes, we cannot guarantee that all seats will have an unobstructed view. With regards to ticketing, the main goal is to get all the John Mayer Fanclub members in the door.
Q: How are seats assigned?
A: Seats are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. We assign the best available seats to each order as it is placed.
Q: How many tickets can I request?
A: Four tickets per member, per show.
Q: What are the different seat types, and if I choose "best available", will I get best available?
A: Depending on the venue, we offer different types of seats at different price levels. Generally the seats are named according to sections of the venue, for example pavilion or lawn. For the best chance at getting a seat, choose "best available" from the seating selection.
Q: If I order 2 tickets for a single concert will the seats be together?
A: Yes.
Q: What if I have a friend who is also a member and we both order tickets, can we sit together?
A: Sorry, we can't place multiple groups together, but in most cases, you will be seated next to other John Mayer Fanclub members.
Q: How do I know where my seats are?
A: Members will not have access to seating grids on the John Mayer Fanclub. Please consult the venue website.
Q: When is my card charged?
A: Immediately. Your card will be charged as soon as you submit your order.
Q: How do I cancel or change my order?
A: All ticket sales are final. No cancellations or returns or exchanges.
Q: What if I don't want my seats?
A: You may give your seats away or sell them at face value unless your tickets have been left at Will Call.
Q: When can I expect my tickets to be delivered?
A: We typically ship tickets approximately 2 weeks prior to the show date. If you have not received your tickets one week prior to the show date, please contact our Customer Service department jmcs@musictoday.com. We send all tickets via 2-day express delivery. On the day your tickets ship out, you will receive email from us with your tracking number and specific delivery date.
Q: Can my tickets be sent through the regular mailing service?
A: Currently, the only delivery service we offer is a 2-day Air. This method provides reliable tracking capabilities and helps us maintain full accountability for the delivery of your tickets.
Q: What if nobody is there to receive the package?
A: Due to the value of the packages we send out and to ensure successful delivery to you, please make sure you give us an address where you will be during daytime hours. Many of our customer’s have their tickets shipped to their business address for this reason. If three attempts are made without success, the tickets will be returned to us. We can resend them to you for an additional ship fee of $8.00. If we need to overnight the tickets in order for you to have them by the time of the show, that fee increases to $10.00.
Q: How can I track my package?
A: When your package is shipped, we will send you an e-mail with the tracking number. You can click on that number and it will take you to the carrier’s website for tracking.
Q: What if I need to change my shipping address?
A: We are able to change your shipping address as long as your tickets have not already been shipped. Please email johnmayertix@musictoday.com to request an address change. If you need to change your address once the tickets have been shipped there will be an additional $10 charge.
Q: Where should I send my tickets?
A: We recommend sending your tickets to your place of business if you work during the day. Please remember that they cannot deliver to P.O. boxes, Our carrier guarantees delivery to a business by 4:30 P.M. and to a residence by 7:00 P.M, so please keep this information in mind when choosing your shipping address.
Q: Why do we ship 2 Day Air?
A: Due to the value of these tickets, and the critical nature of prompt delivery, we use a service that allows both the customer and the company to track the package until it is in your hands. When your tickets are shipped, you will be emailed your tracking number and specific delivery date.
Q: Will John Mayer Fanclub Ticketing replace lost, stolen, or destroyed tickets?
A: Sorry, but lost or stolen tickets cannot be replaced. If your tickets are mutilated or destroyed we can only replace them if you can provide proof (such as the remains of the tickets). Any claims for replacement tickets must be made prior to the show date. If the John Mayer Fanclub staff judge your claim to be valid, arrangements will be made for you to receive replacements at the venue Box Office on the show date only. General admission or lawn tickets will not be replaced under any circumstances.
Q: Can I get special needs tickets through John Mayer Fanclub Ticketing?
A: Yes, when available, we offer a limited number of special needs seats for each show. We request that you submit a doctor's letter, on his/her letterhead, stating that the special seating is warranted. It is not our intention to inconvenience those with a genuine need for these seats, but to rather help insure that we can fill all legitimate requests. Please fax your letter to customer service at 434-984-6798. In cases when Special needs seating is not available, we ask that you contact the Venue with your request.
Q: Can I get a refund for my tickets?
A: We do not offer refunds for tickets.
Q: When it says they go on sale at 11am, does that mean 11am EST so 8am PST?
A: Yes, all times are eastern unless otherwise noted.
Q: If I have extra tickets to a show, how should I go about selling them?
A: To encourage a scalper-free environment, members looking to buy or sell extra tickets at face value are encouraged to do so within the confines of this website. Should a member encounter a person scalping tickets either on this site or another such as eBay, we encourage that member to report the incident to Musictoday.
The John Mayer Fanclub (Local-83) expressly forbids and actively combats the scalping of John Mayer tickets in any fashion. To this end, ticket brokers are prohibited from joining the John Mayer Fanclub, and if a member is found selling tickets for profit, his/her membership will be voided without return of the membership fee.

Taping
John Mayer allows audiotaping at almost every live performance. No soundboard or power feeds are provided.
Taping is limited to audio-only, using only microphones. Wireless receivers are strictly prohibited. We sincerely appreciate all of John's fans, so we ask that you please be considerate of those around you by not obstructing anyone else's view of the performance.
All recordings must be used for personal use or trading only. Selling or commercializing any recording is illegal and will jeopardize taping privileges for everyone.
In addition to helping fans recreate the live experience, we hope tape trading will foster greater interaction within the fan community. Any method of trading that does not involve personal fan interaction defeats the spirit of this goal of the taping policy and is not authorized.
